Where memory lingers, design begins.
About Me
Hi, I’m Xiaoman Yang, currently pursuing my Master's in Design Technology at Cornell University. I was raised by my grandparents in Beijing, China.
I was raised by my grandparents, and as a child I spent most of my time in a small storage room filled with objects my grandmother had collected over the decades. There was an old foot-operated sewing machine, a broken scale, and even boxes of LEGO she had bought for me. I would spend hours trying to repair, reassemble, and reimagine these things.
It was in that little room, surrounded by tools, worn machines, and playful building blocks, that my fascination with design and making began. Today, this passion drives my research interests in digital fabrication and emotional design, where I explore how technology can not only make but also connect—embedding emotion, memory, and care into the things we build.
