Hi! I’m so happy you made it here.

I was born in Beijing, China, and during my undergrad years my family moved to Suzhou. (I actually like Suzhou more, because the air is cleaner, and my grandparents can go out for walks every day.)

I love sports, though I’m terrible at anything involving a ball. My favorites are figure skating and skiing (but I don’t have skiing photos because… I ski too fast, haha).
I also have a little cat, she’s a curly-haired breed and feels like a tiny sheep.

Finally, I want to write my Chinese name here — 杨小满 (Yang Xiaoman) and tell you what it means.
Yang 杨 is my family name; it’s very common in China.
Xiaoman 小满 is my given name. It roughly means “the best state is being just full enough, not perfectly full.” You could think of it as “great” rather than “perfect.” It’s also the name of one of the 24 traditional solar terms, marking the moment when grains start to ripen but aren’t fully mature yet. I really love that my mom chose this name for me.
